AK Pro Beads
Hand-painted egg patterns devised by Alaskan trout guides to fool big wary trout in SW Alaska and beyond
Home Page

These beads are a labor of love. They are a culmination of decades of guiding experience and they have fooled countless rainbows throughout my years of guiding in Southwestern Alaska.
Now they are available to you for your fishing adventures!
Besides fishing them on the small tributary streams that host spawning sockeye salmon in southwestern Alaska, I have put these beads to use in many other fishing situations.  From Great Lakes steelheading to fishing for big lake run browns in southern Chile, these beads have proved their effectiveness time and again.
I personally paint and inspect each of these beads to insure their quality and fishiness then I send them on to you.
Please try these beads in any situation where you would fish a glo-bug or egg pattern, then let me know how they worked for you.

We are currently offering four different colors of beads in 6mm and 8mm sizes.  There is a more complete description of each color on the
Our Products  page of this site, so please refer to that page when ordering.  The 6mm beads are similar in size to sockeye and most trout eggs, and the 8mm size is close to the size of silver, chum and pink salmon roe.  The 8mm beads are often just as effective as the 6mm size when fishing behind sockeye in Southwest Alaska.  Char and dolly varden like big and bright beads, especially early in the spawning season.
The pictures below give you an idea of the color, but it is impossible to show how these beads look in the water, which is where they really shine.  The key is to have some transparency so light shines through, while also having areas of milkiness. Check out are suggestions for rigging these beads on our Rigging Tips page.  I don't want to give all of our secrets away, so please just give them a try and see how they work for you.
